Book a Consultation

If you are feeling unsure about whether an assessment is right for you or your child, you may prefer to book an appointment for a consultation first. Read on for information about the types of appointments you can book directly.

Adult ADHD Consultation Appointment:

Are you feeling unsure about whether you have ADHD? Many people doubt their experiences and may worry that it's all in their head; that they're exaggerating; that everyone is really like this; that they're attention-seeking. These doubts, combined with the cost of an ADHD assessment, can make you hesitate about whether an assessment is the right process for you.

Other people may wonder if it is ADHD that explains their difficulties, or something else entirely. Autism, mental health difficulties, menopause, traumatic life experiences and other things can present like ADHD, and you may feel uncertain about what the best path for you is.

Our preliminary consultation offers a safe space to discuss your concerns, explore symptoms, and understand the diagnostic process. Get your questions answered, address any worries, and discover potential paths forward. This personalised session empowers you to make an informed decision about pursuing a full assessment, ensuring you're prepared and confident every step of the way.

A consultation is an optional step that can help give you the peace of mind you seek about moving forwards. The consultation appointment costs €200. If you choose to proceed with an ADHD assessment, the cost of the consultation will be deducted from the cost of the ADHD assessment.

Please note: This can be an in-person appointment or an online appointment. Select either:

Adult (online) Consultation Appointment

or

Adult (In Person) Consultation Appointment

when booking, based on your preference.

Child Consultation Appointment

Concerned that ADHD may be impacting your child, but unsure about whether an assessment is the right step? Or perhaps you wondering whether they might have other neurodiverse presentations, such as autism or dyslexia? It can be very hard to know what the best path forward is to understanding your child’s brain and helping them get the best support that they can.

Our pre-assessment consultation provides a safe space to discuss your child's behaviour, development, and any challenges they may be facing. We'll explore potential causes, answer your questions, and address any concerns you have. This personalised discussion empowers you to make an informed decision about pursuing a full assessment for your child, ensuring you're comfortable and confident in your next steps.

A consultation is an optional step, but may be strongly recommended by West Cork Psychology in certain instances.

A consultation costs €200 and involves prior completion of screening forms and questionnaires.

These appointments are available either online or in person. For online appointments, where the child is younger than 12, it may not be appropriate for them to join the call, so it will likely take place entirely with parents. Where the child is aged 12 or older, the Psychologist may request to briefly speak to them to also get their perspectives.

For in-person assessments, it is advisable for the child to attend a screening appointment with their parent(s), especially for children aged 8 or older. For younger children, it may be preferable for parent(s) to attend alone. The appointments take place in our office in Kinsale, Co Cork.
